I don’t remember an outcry when this executive order was signed. A precursor to the Patriot Act.

Where can I buy a BlackBerry in Saudi Arabia?

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by admin in telecom providers | 1 Comment »

There are two telecom providers in Saudi Arabia (Mobily & Saudi Telecom). I need an unlocked BlackBerry to be used with Saudi Telecom.

I would suggest buying one on ebay if your want a reasonable price, be sure the seller has a good feedback profile, accepts paypal or credit cards, so you can get your money back if the deal goes wrong, and has a trackable method of shipping. I know thats technically not IN SA, but it’s affordable, and unlocked.. and you can get a good deal :)

Is it safe to send "sensitive" MMS data over Globe Telecom (Philippine provider)? Thanks in advance!?

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by admin in telecom provider | 1 Comment »

If it’s encrypted in some form (you use a form to convert it somehow or you have some very specific software on your phone), it’s safe.

Most cell phones do not use encrypted SMS, and any data sent through SMS should NOT be sensitive.

Hope this helps!

hi i am E.C. engineer fresher i want to develop career in telecom sector where do i start?

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by admin in telecom | 1 Comment »

I am from Gujarat. I have a very good academic record.I just want to get in the telecom industry. But i don’t know the way where to start.I have also heard that most of the giant telecom company recruits by references only. i need some tips to kick my career in RF engineering or networking.Thank u.

First of all- which country do you want to work in? Do you have Masters/Ph.D. qualifications or just Bachelors?

I’m certainly not an expert by any means on the Indian market (I’m from the States), but there should be plenty of posters here with experience with the Indian market.

Good luck.

can anybody from the service provider or telecom company can view the SMS that we are sending?

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by admin in telecom service providers | 6 Comments »

We people normally use to send very private things via SMS. today I just got a fear… is it possible for anyone working in the service providing company for (ex. airtel or hutch etc… ) to view the messages that we are sending to our close ones? in the same way can anyone hear our calls?

If this is possible I guess people working in the technical team of the service providing companies may view the messages or hear the calls… not necessarily with any purpose but for a fun. Anyways our privacy matters. any idea…?
Thank you for sharing. I am much concerned about this now…

yes they can!
T-mobile nextel all the major servise providers can
all they have to do is run your account and they can see everything you send

Are telecoms in mexico an oligopoly or is Telmex a monopoly? why? can you justify it in economics terms please?

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by admin in telecoms | 2 Comments »

There are around 12 companies which provide landline services (homogenous product) other than Telmex, however I think they rent Telmex’s bases? or lines? and Telmex has the mayority market share. I need to write an essay determining what market structure this is… THANKS!!

They are government oligopolies. Few producers of the product (12 in this case for such a large industry). The government assumes they the producers (the 12) will compete with each other for customers thereby keeping competition alive (compete by cost). We have the same in our country but more producers using Ma Bells old lines. Pemex (Mexican Oil Company) is a wholly owned monopoly of the Mexican Government. Most of their profits go into Swiss bank accounts for their crooked politicians and ex presidents.
