With the installation of ISDN (Digital) lines, DDI (Direct Dial in) becomes available,

DDI is a very convenient and simple way of bypassing the operator for making direct contact with an individual or department, faxes and modems, etc. This is done by allocating a unique DDI number to each desired phone

DDI numbers can be used for advertising, situation vacant purposes, etc, and changed when required. As many numbers as needed from 100 to 600 are possible.

In telecom industry mobile communication is a growing field. In mobile communication yon can join the course of RF engg. or BTS installation from any repudiated institute.

Start from Wiki. Its a good bet. But you have to be sure of what you want in Telecom. First get an idea of the telecom world then narrow your area of focus. This might help.

A major showcase for cutting edge information and communication technologies (ICT) that includes an industry exhibition, ITU TELECOM AFRICA presented a unique forum for brainstorming and an important networking platform for both governments and the private sector to chart the future course of the ICT industry.
