Everybody’s Phone Company is your new alternative to the large telecom providers that have dominated the local telephone service market! We offer pre-paid service that is a relatively new but fast growing concept in the telecommunications market. Often we are asked how our business works as most people are only familiar with the limited way in which large telephone companies bill or charge their clients. For many reasons, there are large numbers of customers and businesses that cannot get service from their Regional Bell Operating Company. The Telecom Act of 1996 permits small companies like Everybody’s Phone Company to provide these customers with a service that is pre-paid and is renewable on a monthly basis.

Broadband Stimulus

Posted on March 21st, 2010 by admin in telecom providers | 4 Comments »

Both President-Elect Barack Obama and Congressional leaders have discussed including government support to promote high-speed broadband access as part of the upcoming economic stimulus package. This has prompted a flood of proposals and ideas from advocates of all sides of the broadband debate. Economic stimulus should be timely, temporary and targeted. But who should this stimulus target and how can we spur investments that will create both short-term economic growth and long-term economic prosperity in the 21st century?

Although there is consensus on the critical need for broadband stimulus, there are clear divides on how the money should be spent. Do we utilize tax subsidies or targeted grants? Who receives the subsidies? Should we provide subsidies to existing cable and telecom providers, or focus on supporting new competitors? Should we strictly target subsidies to spur build-out in rural or under-served areas? Are there speed requirements? Do we include local governments, community groups, and NGOs? What about programs to increase adoption?

Telecom operators struggle to increase ARPU

Posted on March 13th, 2010 by admin in telecom providers | No Comments »

Consumers don’t expect their Internet and cable bills to look like their home heating bills. They subscribe to unlimited Internet, data and voice and get charged the same every month. But with bandwidth-gobbling services such as IP video choking their networks, telecom operators must reduce their cost-per-bit by revamping their next-generation architecture while also raising the average revenue per user (ARPU).

Comic Relief TV Ad 2009 03 numbers Windsor Telecom

Posted on March 10th, 2010 by admin in telecom providers | No Comments »

http://www.windsor-telecom.co.uk

This is the latest BBC promotional trail for Comic Relief on March 13th 2009.

It features comedy actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost – best known for the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead.

As you will see, Comic Relief is using an 03 number for its telephone number for people to request more information.

03 numbers cost the same to call as normal landline numbers – even from a mobile phone. This is important when you consider that 40% of all calls made in 2007 were from mobiles (Ofcom 2008) and this is rising. 03 numbers are also included in the free minutes offered by all major landline and mobile network providers.

03 numbers enable the organisation to add intelligent call features to their phone lines easily (e.g caller options – ‘press 1 to donate, 2 for more information etc.)

Windsor Telecom is fast becoming the UK’s leading authority on 03 numbers: http://www.windsor-telecom.co.uk/03-numbers.php

Update from Key International Carrier Hotels (1 of 5)

Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin in telecom providers | No Comments »

Carrier hotels provide a secure location for the interconnection of telecom networks. Traditional carriers, wireless providers, cable/ MSOs, content providers and enterprises rely on these facilities to expand the scope of their networks through interconnection. Carrier hotel value is directly derived from the occupants and the location relative to key demand points. Part 1 of 5.

Key discussion points include:

* How is the role of the carrier hotel changing with facilitation of enhanced services within its facilities?
* How is the proliferation web enabled content changing demand for carrier hotel space?
* As carrier hotels within major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and London fill up, what are carrier hotel providers doing to satisfy growing demand in a world of limited capacity?

Rehan Allahwala and Greg Vance Discuss Empowerment of Asterisk

Posted on February 26th, 2010 by admin in telecom providers | No Comments »

This was actually the second half of a conversation that drifted from Asterisk education to the concept of DIDX and the further telecom empowerment around the world. The Philippines, Middle East and Africa are examples of areas where telcos or voip companies are already using Digium hardware, have a soft switch, and they have spare DID (direct inward dialing) phone numbers that instead of sitting around not making money, they can be made available on DIDX.

And ah, yes, we’d love to have a poster showing that DIDX won the Digium Service Provider Innovator award the first year this was available in 2007.

Thank you so much, Greg, for your words to Rehan, “I can’t imagine anybody that has done more for developing Asterisk opportunities as you have. What you’re talking about in sharing global DIDs is really enhancing the whole community side. Asterisk is obviously a good source and we want to bring as many people into that ecosystem as into the whole strategy in how to share ideas and how do we communicate. Really the whole idea of Asterisk is not necessarily a piece of hardware but it’s the communicating around the world. I’d like to say there is 99% of the world has an Asterisk server somewhere because it … has allowed people to become telecom providers when before, they were not able to because of the expense, because of their location… and now anybody with a little technical knowledge can become a part of that global community. So I applaud DIDX and the things that you’ve done to help pave the way for that. Thank you, Rehan.”

Rehan responds with examples of voice costs ten years ago to now and gives much credit where anyone would … to Mark Spencer and those who have stuck behind the Asterisk community. In fact, it may be easier today to open a telephony company than a bakery.

Greg and Rehan were in the press room where http://www.didx.net was a media partner and press agent
