Small and medium offices that decide to upgrade to a T1 line for Internet access will find that their telecom provider will require a router for the T1 line. Because Cisco is the leader in routers for T1 connections, it’s often recommended by the telecom carrier that the customer obtain a Cisco router with a WIC-1DSU-T1 card. This card is compatible with the Cisco 1700, 2600, 2600XM, and 3600 series routers along with a few others.

Successfully navigating through the economic downturn requires the right strategies, the right investments, and the right partnerships. During a recent visit to Cisco’s San Jose Executive Briefing Center, Telecom Italia’s senior leadership team shares how they are using this downturn to introduce new managed services and new business models to better serve the Small and Medium business segment and win market share.

Key to Telecom Italia’s success is their partnership with Cisco. Over the past several years, Cisco has helped Telecom Italia design and implement their “Impresa Semplice” managed service portfolio that provides SMBs with services including: managed LAN, managed VPN, managed firewall, and managed unified communications. Telecom Italia is working with Cisco to build upon this foundation to expand service to more segments, offer new hosted unified communications and web collaboration services, and offer new pricing models allowing more customers to “pay as they grow”. In addition, Telecom Italia is working with Cisco to introduce the new ISR G2 platform my mid-year 2010. Listen to the Telecom Italia as they share their perspective on the market, key success factors, and the power of partnerships to accelerate innovation.

Specifically, it now reaches 20% of all pay TV subscribers in the country; 50% of all ADSL consumers take TV services from Portugal Telecom.

Watch Ciscos Chris Dedicoat and Portugal Telecom CEo Zenial Bava discuss the growth of telecom and video in Portugal, including the importance of structural competition and network architectures that transcend commoditization. A prevailing factor for Portugal Telecoms selection of Cisco as its partner: The human factor. Ciscos local team presence, in Portugal and around the world, gave Bava the confidence to engage.
