Hoekstra on Telecom Immunity From Lawsuits

Posted on July 2nd, 2010 by admin in telecom industry | 6 Comments »

Rep. Pete Hoekstra, ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, addresses the need to renew the Protect America Act. Signed into law in August 2007, the bill expired Feb. 16, 2008, greatly complicating the task of the intelligence services and the telecommunications companies that must cooperate with them to make their efforts efficient and effective.

    They deserve even …
They deserve even more than that, because they directly violated the US Constitution. Is that freedom? Am I to feel sorry for the telecoms? All those lawyers they have and they didn’t know they were violating the Constitution??? What they need is to have all their execs thrown out on their ears and hauled off to prison.

    This is bs. None …
This is bs. None of those companies or their execs will ever be prosecuted. Congress doesn’t want to give them blanket immunity so that they will be forced to testify, so we can finally find out what the Bush admin has been up to.

    They deserve to pay …
They deserve to pay every penny. Read the Constitution and protect what it stands for. stop the unjust war! any one who takes away the liberties of the American people is the real terrorist~! think about it????

    is intimidation by surveillance.
Citizens know they are being watched and overheard.
Their mail is being examined. Their homes can be invaded.”

    There is a …
There is a desperation in their message. All of the GOP are complicit in the scheme, therefore they want to cover their butts. Americans are getting quite tired of the fear card; and the absolute lying going on here is reprehensible. Motives are pretty clear; good luck with that.

    Uh, they were …
Uh, they were illegally spying on Americans BEFORE 9-11 Mr Hoekstra. The reason the Bush administration has put the welfare of the telecoms before the welfare of American citizens is that they must avoid the discovery process that is part of civil litigation. Discovery that might bring to light impeachable offenses.
