GOP party of ‘NO’ – no voice for HC or Recession – finds voice for Telecom Masters – who are they for?
The GOP like to play the part of ‘Poor Opposition Party w/No Voice’ when it comes to working out solutions on the Recession, Health Care, Equal Pay for Women. But when their Big Telecom/Special Interest groups call they find their voice and introduce legislation (i.e. Internet Freedom Act). Where is their voice for the people. Are they only for large Corps & Special Interest group?
McCain’s bill, the Internet Freedom Act, seeks to do the opposite of what its name implies by ensuring that broadband and wireless providers can discriminate and throttle certain traffic while giving preferential treatment to other traffic. Basically, those in power or those who pay more will have better access. Apparently we have different definitions of ‘freedom’.

To keep the Internet neutral, Genachowski wants the FCC to formally adopt six principles, four of which have been employed by the FCC on a case-by-case basis since 2005.
1. Consumers are entitled to access the lawful Internet content of their choice.
2. Consumers are entitled to run applications and use services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement.
3. Consumers are entitled to connect their choice of legal devices that do not harm the network.
4. Consumers are entitled to competition among network providers, application and service providers, and content providers.
5. Broadband providers cannot block or degrade lawful traffic over their networks, favor certain content or applications over others and cannot "disfavor an Internet service just because it competes with a similar service offered by that broadband provider."
6. Broadband providers must be transparent about the service they are providing and how they are running their networks.
You are quite ignorant. How many times are you going to post this garbage today?
There is no "turning iNet (sic) Bandwidth over to the Telecoms", it is the telecoms who own the bandwidth and the government wants to tell them how they can manage their traffic.
People who pay more, should have better access.
I know you want to play World of Warcraft 24/7 and it makes you mad that for your $14.95 a month you might get slowed down so more important traffic can go through.

McCain knows nothing of the internet. The bill was presented to him by cable and telecom companies, and he submitted it like a good bought politician.

It’s hilarious how Obama supporters think that in order to "have a voice" you have to mindlessly support everything Obama wants.

I don’t know much about this and I have to do some research on my own to state anything on it. I have found that one sided views are put out here and I am not saying you are dishonest..but you can only be seeing what you want to see and not the whole picture either.
I am a conservative and I am for big business. yes there is corruption in some business but you only hear about that and not all the good the others do and how honest THEY ARE! you base all companies on a few that get dishonest people.
The government is corrupt…they too take and do things that are dishonest and if not dishonest…bordering on it so they can say they are clean. There is no other business bigger than that one and I don’t see too many anymore that aren’t out to buy their votes and their position and forget about us.
I would trust big business over the government anyday!! This one has shown you can’t trust ONE Word because it is a lie the next day and or a trick they play to get people on their sides. This is the most dishonest administration EVER…and that takes over CARTER and NIXON and even CLINTON! At least they can be caught and tried and you know where you stand….but too many in government get away with too much even when found out. Look at Ted Kennedy, Clinton , etc.
I would truly have to read what McCain is doing and why and not what someone posts. I really like McCain and I think he is one of the most honest men out there…so I find it difficult that he is trying to hurt AMERICA. Unlike the village idiot in office that has done nothing for AMERICA but weaken it and ignore our military.

You’re assuming that Republicans support McCain on this. That’s a pretty big assumption. However, I don’t see how this relates to the health care bill.
The Internet is not an essential means of survival. Plus the majority of it was build through tons of investments by corporations or other investors. Someone who pays more should be able to get better access. It’s that way now. You can pay the dirt cheap rate for cable internet and get maybe 768k download or pay the $60+ per month for 20Mb or even faster now.
Selective bandwidth allocation is very common in the business world to maintain network stability and efficiency. Why shouldn’t the same concepts be available to the Internet as a whole? I don’t want a surge in file sharing to hog so much bandwidth that it results in super high latency when trying to play some sort of online game. Quality of Service is necessary to an effective network.

LOL…..OK, you are becoming a little annoying, kind of like a pimple.
How about this. I’ll answer like a liberal would so you will put this question away for the day. Here goes….
YES! Republican are the party of NO. OMG, they are so intolerant and they don’t like poor people either. Like, they even want to see small children starve and people go bankrupt because they can’t pay for the health care that saved their lives. Can you imagine that? Those people will be broke forever and ever because they can’t pay for the surgery that saved their lives. I am really starting to become afraid of them too. They bring guns and stuff to town hall rallies and they make signs that say Obama is Hitler. Those racists are crazy and uneducated too!! They hate woman and don’t believe woman should have any rights either. Plus, they are so greedy that they live in trailers and are toothless because they don’t want to spend their money on a good home or a dentist. All they do is read the Bible and homeschool their children because they hate schools and education. They don’t want to pay taxes for things like schools, fire and rescue, roads, etc. All they want to do with our tax dollars is blow up other countries, kill and rape woman and children. We all know that war was all about oil. The GOP is in bed with oil companies.
I can’t go any farther. My imagination is done for the day.

You are very misguided.
HC? Obama promised when campaigning that the program would be "bipartisan" and "transparent". Yet, no Republicans were invited to help write the bill, and all committee meetings have been behind closed doors, without CSPAN coverage, as promised by Obama. Now Reid wants the full senate to vote on cloture before the bill is even offered. (That way Conservative Dems can vote yes to Cloture, and no on the package, and still get a 50+ majority). Republicans havent offered alternatives, because quite frankly, they have no one to offer it to.
Equal Pay for women? What are you talking about,? It is already illegal to pay women less for the same work as men. the SC has already ruled on that.
Finally, the FCC’s attempt to force telcom’s to accept independently providing access is fine. Except the current business model in wireless is to subsidize phone purchases and certain services with contractual obligation by the user. Think those blackberries are going to still be $80 with equal access? Think your monthly plan will stay at $40 with equal access? It is the equivalent of telling McDonald’s they need to allow independent vendors in their stores to sell Coke at any price they wish. Here’s a business paradigm for you… McDonalds affers a dollar menu for cheeseburgers knowing they make nothing on the cheeseburger, but a fortune on the soda you buy. Make them be competitive on sodas, and say goodbye to the $1 cheeseburger.
But as usual, congress, and liebrals, have no clue as to how businesses price their products, and what the fallout of new regulation will be. Think that the reason every major bank raised the interest rates on Visa and Mastercard, and raised the minimum pay amount was due to their efforts to make more money? (Hint: NO. They did it because Congress passed a law freezing these options effective next year. the natural reaction was to raise them immediately).
so go ahead and press forward with the interference in Verizon and ATT’s business model, then moan like the ill informed liberal that you are, when your cell phone cost goes to $400, and your monthly plan goes to $75.
